My hubby and I have a fun holiday tradition with our friends in Seattle—the first weekend in December, we caravan out to a Christmas tree farm, trek across fields looking for our perfect tree, and toast to our friendship over hot toddies. I’ve perfected my version over the last few years—replacing the honey with a ginger simple syrup. I just purchased a cute blue growler from Miir so I can make a giant batch that’s easy to transport and keep hot (up to 12 hours). Give it a try and tell me what you think!
Makes 66 oz (12 servings) for Miir Growler
- 24 oz bourbon
- 24 oz apple cider
- 6 oz lemon juice (from 4 large lemons)
- 12 oz ginger simple syrup (recipe below)
Combine all ingredients and heat on the stove or microwave until steaming hot. Pour into insulated growler. Enjoy with friends!
Fun facts: Hot Toddy, also called Scottish Penicillin, has been known to help relieve some symptoms of the common cold.
SINGLE SERVING (so you don’t have to mathlete it)
- 2 oz bourbon
- 2 oz apple cider
- 1/2 oz lemon juice (roughly 1/2 lemon)
- 1 oz ginger simple syrup (recipe below)
